Essential Eight
Don’t wait until it’s too late, get ahead of the risk!!
The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), in conjunction with the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), has developed prioritised mitigation strategies to help organisations protect themselves against various cyber threats. The most effective of these mitigation strategies are the Essential Eight.
The Essential Eight has been designed to protect organisations’ internet-connected information technology networks.
It is based on ASD’s experience in producing cyber threat intelligence, responding to cyber security incidents, conducting penetration testing and assisting organisations to implement a more secure cyber ecosystem.

While no set of mitigation strategies are guaranteed to protect against all cyber threats, organisations are recommended to implement eight essential mitigation strategies from the ASD as a baseline. This baseline, known as the Essential Eight, makes it much harder for adversaries to compromise systems.
